7. Dopping
To hold the stones while shaping and polishing they must be "dopped". This involves heating up the stones and dopping wax. The stone is then placed on the dop stick (usually a small wood dowel) and allowed to cool. The dopping wax is soft and pliable when heated and becomes very hard at room temperature. The smaller picture is of the stones heating on the dop pot full of dopping wax.
