5. Color Combinations
Pick up a few of your stones and take a closer look. What colors are they really? A piece of petrified palmwood may look brown and tan but look closer, is there a streak of red in it? A hint of orange? How would this look with a small garnet or orange chalcedony? Is the red leaning towards orange or blue? If you have mostly solid color stones try putting two complimentary colors together. Do they clash? How about colors next to each other on the color wheel? Try grouping pastel colors, or translucent colors vs. opaque colors or ones with similar patterns. Stone combinations can be based on other criteria also, like putting stones from the same geographical region together, or picking out ones that have complimentary metaphysical properties.
